How to Repair Mantra Device & Fix Connection Errors

Check OTG & USB Connections

If using a mobile phone, ensure the OTG setting is turned ON in your phone settings. Inspect the USB cable for physical damage. Try plugging into a different USB port directly on the motherboard (rear ports on a desktop).

Clean the Optical Sensor

If fingerprint capture fails or times out, the sensor glass may be dirty. Gently wipe the glass surface with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or wet wipes.

Update Drivers & RD Service

Outdated software is the #1 cause of connection errors. Go to your Control Panel, uninstall the old Mantra Driver and RD Service. Download the latest versions from the manufacturer download portal and reinstall them.

Restart the AVDM Service

Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter. Scroll down to find Mantra AVDM. Right-click on it and select "Restart". Wait a few seconds until you see "Framework is Ready to Use".

The 7-digit & 8-digit serial number is printed on the sticker attached to the bottom/back of your Mantra device. It is usually labeled as SR NO: as highlighted in the image.

If the sticker is faded or missing completely:
Plug the device into your Windows PC, open the "Mantra Management Client" tool from your start menu, and click on "Initialize". The software will detect your hardware and display your precise serial number directly on the screen.

RD (Registered Device) Service is a mandatory security framework implemented by UIDAI. It ensures that biometrics are captured securely by whitelisted hardware and encrypted at the device level before reaching the server. Renewing your Mantra RD Service updates your device's registration certificate on the UIDAI server. Without an active RD service validity, you cannot perform Aadhaar authentications, AEPS cash withdrawals, or eKYC.

Yes! The RD Service renewal process is the same whether you have an older L0 device (like the MFS100) or the newer, highly secure L1 device (MFS110). However, please note that UIDAI is gradually phasing out L0 devices across various banking and government portals in favor of L1 hardware for enhanced encryption.

First, remove the USB cable and plug it back into your device. Second, ensure your PC or mobile phone has a strong, active internet connection so it can fetch the new token. If the issue persists on a PC, press Windows Key + R, type `services.msc`, locate "Mantra AVDM", right-click, and select "Restart".
